-1351: Buddha of Compassion first born and repeatedly born in order to "bring tibetans [the] spiritual and political wisdom they require."
-July 7th, 1935: His Holiness is born as "Lhamo Dhondrub."
-1935: 13th Dalai lLama, "Thupten Gyatso" died at 57.
-1935 Folklore: regent of Tibet has vision of monastery where next Lama is to be found.
-1949: Tenzin Gyatso completes his "Geshe Lharampa" degree (Doctorate of Buddhist Philosophy).
-1950: 80,000 soldiers of the "Chinese People's Liberation army" invade Tibet.
-1950: Assumes political power.
-1959: Chinese army defeats Lhasa uprising.
-March 10th 1959: Escapes to India and receives political asylum.
-1963: "Promulgates" democratic constitution based on Buddhist principles and "the universal declaration of human rights" in hopes of a future free Tibet.
-1987: Proposes a self-governing democratic Tibet "in association with the People's Republic of China."
-1989: Awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
